How to Order a Replacement Tag for a Pet Owner

The first time a Pet Owner orders a municipal tag with DocuPet, the tag itself is free of cost. When renewing a license, if the Pet Owner would like a new tag, there is a Replacement Tag fee (which has been set by your organization). Administrators can still issue a replacement free of cost, if the previous tag was lost in the mail or damaged from wear and tear. However, a Pet Owner can also request a replacement tag at any time, for a fee (for example, if they lost their pet's tag).

How-To:

1. On the main page, go to the “Pet Owner Record Search” tool and type in the first and last name of the pet owner you’re looking for.

2. Click on the Pet Owner’s name to access their DocuPet profile.

3. Scroll down to the “Order History” section and click on “New Order”

  • If the pet that needs a replacement tag is eligible for renewal you should process the license and add a tag as part of the order.

4. Scroll down to the “Replacement License Tags” section and use the arrow on the right to open the dropdown box. Select the pet you need to order the replacement tag for. Then choose the product based on the situation:

  • “No Charge Replacement Tag (Postal Issue)” - Replace the tag free of charge if they did not receive the tag in the mail or if the order was returned.

  • “No Charge Replacement Tag (Wear)” - Replace the tag free of charge if the pet owner shows that the tag is worn and is no longer legible (within a year of receiving the tag).

  • “No Charge Replacement Tag (Return)” - Use this option if a pet owner originally declined a tag during renewal but later decides they would like one, or if they would like a different tag size.

  • “Replacement Tag Fee” - Standard fee to replace the tag if lost or damaged.

5. Click on “Add to Order”, at which point you will be taken to the tag selection screen, where you can specify the tag size, any personalization and/or connector options.

6. Click on “Add to Order” to proceed to the payment screen.

7. Review the Order Summary on the right and click on “Continue” when ready to proceed.

8. On the payment screen, indicate what payment method you are accepting for this order. If there is no payment required, you will not be prompted to specify a payment type.

9. To process the order, click on "Continue".

All done! You should now see the final Order Summary page. From here, you can print the receipt for the pet owner if needed. Keep in mind that if the pet owner has an email on file, they will automatically receive an email copy of their order confirmation and receipt.
