Overview
The Authoritative Address Tool includes built-in filters that make it easy to identify address records with missing or incomplete information. Regularly auditing your GIS data helps maintain accurate address records, improves address validation for pet owners, and reduces licensing issues caused by incomplete address information.
Let's Begin!
Step 1: Open the Authoritative Address Tool
From the Administrator Dashboard:
1. Scroll down to Data Management / Administration.
2. Click on Authoritative Address.
Step 2: Search for Incomplete Address Records
Expand the Missing Information Filters section.
Select the type of missing information you'd like to review, such as:
Street Name
Postal/ZIP Code
Latitude
Longitude
Other available address fields
After clicking on search, the system will display all authoritative addresses that are missing the selected information.
Step 3: Review and Update the Address
Locate the address you want to correct and click on View / Edit.
Make any necessary updates to the address record, then click on Save.
Latitude and Longitude
If Latitude and Longitude are the only missing fields, you do not need to enter them manually.
Simply open the address record and click on Save. The system will automatically generate and populate the coordinates.
Best Practices
Audit your authoritative address data regularly to keep your GIS records accurate and complete.
Review any addresses returned by the Missing Information Filters and update them as needed.
If only latitude and longitude are missing, simply saving the address record will automatically populate those values.
When editing an address, verify that any changes are appropriate, as updates may affect pet owners linked to that authoritative address.
