How to use the Pet Owner Record Search Tool

Overview

The Pet Owner Record Search tool allows administrators to quickly locate pet owner accounts within DocuPet using a variety of search criteria. It is often the starting point for most administrative tasks within DocuPet and is one of the most commonly used tools in the system.

This tool is commonly used when:

Looking up a pet owner's account.
Updating pet owner or pet information.
Processing license renewals or new orders.
Reviewing account history.
Locating pets associated with a specific owner.

The search tool offers multiple ways to find records, making it easy to locate an account even when only partial information is available.

Accessing the Pet Owner Record Search Tool

There are two ways to access the Pet Owner Record Search tool.

Option 1: From the Dashboard

From the main dashboard, click on Pet Owner Record Search.

Option 2: From the Navigation Menu

You can also access the tool through the main navigation menu by selecting Pet Owner Record Search.

Searching for a Pet Owner

Once you have opened the Pet Owner Record Search page, you can search using a variety of fields.

Searching with Unique Identifiers

For the most accurate results, search using a unique identifier whenever possible, such as:

Pet Owner ID.
Online Access Code.
Email Address.
Phone Number.

These searches typically return a single matching record.

Searching with General Information

If you do not have a unique identifier available, you can search using broader information such as:

First Name.
Last Name.
Street Address.
House Number.
Jurisdiction.
Pet Name.

For best results, use a combination of multiple fields when performing a broader search.

For example:

House Number + Street Name.
First Name + Last Name + Pet Name.

Using multiple search criteria helps narrow down results and locate the correct account more quickly.

Running the Search

After entering your search criteria, click on search at the top of the page.

The system will display all matching records based on the information entered.

Reviewing Search Results

Once the search has been completed, matching results will populate on the screen.

The search results provide a snapshot of each pet owner account, including:

Pet Owner ID.
Full Name.
Administrative Contact.
Address.
Organization.
Phone Number.
Associated Pets.

This allows you to quickly confirm you have located the correct account before opening the full profile.

Opening a Pet Owner Profile

To access a pet owner's account:

Locate the appropriate record in the search results.
Click on the pet owner's name.

You will be taken directly to the pet owner profile, where you can:

Review account information.
Add or edit pets.
Process license orders.
View licenses and tags.
Update contact details.
Perform other administrative actions.

Tips for Successful Searches

Start with a unique identifier whenever possible.
Use multiple search fields when searching with general information.
Double-check spelling when searching by name.
If a pet owner cannot be located, try searching using the pet's name, address, phone number, or email address.
Always search before creating a new pet owner profile to avoid duplicate accounts.
