Searching For an Authoritative Address

Overview

The Authoritative Address Tool allows administrators to search and review approved address records within their licensing jurisdiction. Searching for an authoritative address can help you verify address details, review associated units, view linked pet owners, and access additional address information for troubleshooting or updates.

Let's Begin!

Step 1: Open the Authoritative Address Tool

From the Administrator Dashboard:

1. Scroll down to Data Management / Administration.

2. Click on Authoritative Address.

Step 2: Search for an Address

Enter the address information you would like to locate.

Search Tip: Less is more!

The system searches for exact matches based on the information entered. Small differences in formatting may prevent an address from appearing.

For example:

❌ 670 Adobe Drive
❌ 670 Adobe Dr

These may not return the same results.

Instead, try searching:

✅ 670 Adobe
✅ Adobe

Reviewing Search Results

Once an authoritative address is found, additional details will be displayed:

Authoritative ID

The unique identifier assigned to the address record.

Selecting the hyperlinked Authoritative ID will open the View / Edit screen, where additional address details can be reviewed or updated.

Address

Displays the full address information, including:

Civic/house number.
Street name.
City.
State/Province.
ZIP/Postal Code.

Apartments / Suites / Units

Displays whether the address has associated unit numbers.

To view the individual units:

1. Click the arrow/chevron beside the address.

2. Expand the section to view all associated units.

GPS Coordinates

If latitude and longitude information is available, a GPS icon will appear.

Selecting this icon will open the location in Google Maps.

If coordinates are missing:

1. Select View / Edit.

2. Click Save.

3. The system will automatically populate the latitude and longitude fields.

Organization and Jurisdiction

Displays the organization and licensing jurisdiction associated with the address.

This information determines which licensing rules, fees, and settings apply to pet owners linked to the address.

Pet Owners

Displays any pet owners currently associated with the authoritative address.

Selecting a hyperlinked Pet Owner ID will open that pet owner's profile directly.

Best Practices

Use broad search terms first and add more details only if needed.
Always confirm the jurisdiction before making address updates.
Review associated pet owners before editing or deleting an authoritative address record.
