Overview
The Authoritative Address tool allows administrators to update existing address records within their organization's GIS database.
Because multiple pet owner accounts may be linked to the same authoritative address, changes made to an address can affect every pet owner associated with it. If you're unsure whether an address should be edited, please contact your supervisor before making changes.
Let's Begin!
Step 1: Open the Authoritative Address Tool
1. From the Administrator Dashboard, scroll down to Data Management / Administration.
2. Select Authoritative Addresses.
Step 2: Search for the Address
Use the search fields to locate the address you'd like to edit.
Tip: Less is more. For example, searching 670 Adobe is more likely to return a match than entering the full street suffix, such as 670 Adobe Drive.
Step 3: Open the Address Record
Once you've located the correct address, click on View / Edit.
Step 4: Make Your Changes
Update the address information as needed. When you're finished, click on Save to apply your changes.
If the address is associated with any pet owner accounts, they will be listed under Pet Owners at this Address. You can select any pet owner from this list to open their account directly.
Editing Unit Numbers
If you need to add or update unit information, enter the unit number without symbols or special characters.
For example:
12
205A
B
Avoid entering values such as #12 or Unit 12.
Important Notes
Address Changes May Affect Multiple Accounts
Authoritative addresses can be linked to multiple pet owners. Before saving your changes, verify that the update is correct, as it may impact every account associated with that address.
Need to Edit a Single Pet Owner's Address?
If you're only correcting one pet owner's address, update the address directly from the Pet Owner profile rather than editing the authoritative address record.
Unsure Whether to Edit an Address?
If you're uncertain about the impact of an address change, please contact your supervisor before making updates. This helps prevent unintended changes to other pet owner accounts.
