How Approximate Age Is Calculated On The Pet Profile

Overview:

If an exact birth date for a pet is unknown, which is common especially when the pet has been adopted from a shelter, DocuPet will calculate the approximate date based on the age selection created within the profile. 

Examples:

• Under 6 months or 6 months - 1 year: If you choose one of these options, the pet’s birth date will be set to halfway between today and the selected time period. For example, if you choose 6 months on July 11, 2024, the pet’s birth date will be April 11, 2024.
• 1 year and above: If you choose an option for 1 year or more, the pet’s birth date will be calculated based on the current date. For example, if you choose 3 years on July 11, 2024, the pet’s birth date will be July 11, 2021.

Important Considerations:

Typically, a pet’s birth date won’t be changed after it’s been set. However, if a change is necessary, the new birth date will be adjusted based on the current date.

These adjustments can be seen only in the System Activity Tracker - therefore, are not visible to the Pet Owner. See example below:
