Some jurisdictions require pets to be microchipped in order to be licensed. If your organization allows microchip exemptions, administrators can apply them to the pet’s profile.
How to Add a Microchip Exemption
1. Open the Pet Owner account.
2. Click Edit next to the pet’s name.
3. Locate the Microchip Exempt section.
4. Select Yes under Microchip Exempt.
5. If applicable, enter a Microchip Exempt Expiration Date.
6. Click on Save Pet Details.
The pet's profile information will now reflect that the pet is exempt and show an exemption expiration date (if applicable).
How Microchip Requirements Affect Licensing
If Microchip Required is enabled for your jurisdiction:
If the pet is not microchipped and not exempt, licensing cannot proceed.
If the pet is marked as Microchip Exempt, licensing can proceed.
If the exemption expiration date passes, the exemption will no longer apply, and the system will enforce standard microchip requirements.
Always verify exemption eligibility and supporting documentation based on your organization’s policies.
